Well ... it's an interesting possibility, isn't it?
Lord Matthew would have to be there, of course. If I were to accompany her alone, it would cause rumours and whispers that I'm not nearly ready to deal with, just yet. The fact is, the Queen's right about all of it. As much as I'd love to get her away from him for a time, it would open doors none of us are ready to walk through, just yet.
But if Matthew were there, my presence as the Queen's friend, and just another visiting nobleman, curious about the famous libraries of Ilserna ... that wouldn't be so questionnable, would it? It would be a way to get close to her, and, more importantly, get Matthew away from his family's eyes. I'd be more likely to find a good wedge to drive between them when I had freedom of movement to do it in.
But the Council ...
It could take some time. Every moment I'm away is a moment where Cleraine isn't represented on the Council. Edalene isn't the only one eager to shut us out of power. A reptuation for ambition and pride doesn't serve one well, when they're not there to oversee it.
Perhaps some guidance ...
