I think this is all going rather well, aside from the obvious and regrettable setbacks.
I seem popular enough, I think. If not, there are a great many people here does a very good job of feigning inclination. I'd believe that of some, and suspect a few of far less glowing feelings than they display, but for the most part ...
Being well-liked is something very important. It's a good start.
And the actual affairs of state ...
Ahah, well. This always was my dream, wasn't it? Being in a place where I can do something of actual merit, having a real say in affairs that will truly affect things. No matter what had to be lost to find me here, no matter how it all haunts me, it would be a lie to say that I don't relish every moment of it.
I wonder if Mother would be proud.

Ah, well, sister, I suppose you could use a report from the front, no?
I've been paying very close attention to Prince Reeve and Her Majesty. I haven't seen anything overwhelming eyebrow-raising, of yet, but I trust your estimation of the situation and am, of course, on the lookout for anything that can be done to drive a wedge between the two of them.
Of course, things are rather odd, at the moment, and I'm not sure how I can manage to insinuate myself into the situation at all. The Queen is courting, as you've likely read, though her enthusiasm for it seems strictly sexual. And the Prince, as well, though his enthusiasm is, for lack of a better word, mostly absent. Neither Lord Matthew, nor Aes Eshene seem to have especially noticed the discrepencies, however. They seem quite content. To be fair, if I were in either of their positions, I would likely be willing to tell myself whatever lie, as well.
That said, no matter what the royals feel about these connections, they do appear to exist. With Aes Eshene leading the Prince about on a leash, and Lord Matthew always on Queen Edalene's arm, both of my carefully tended prospects do seem to be otherwise occupied ...

I suppose I'll have linguistic mercy on you, today.
I can't help but be intrigued by all of these whispers floating from home. You, lighting a lantern with Melyndra Destra? Whatever could be going on, there?
